The need to have clean code
Simple error, but it prevents FireFox from working correctly, and IE is one up for a change.
I had emailed the Washington Times, thinking that it was a problem with their site. What happened was a blank page coming up every time I went to the Insider pages at the Washington Times. Then, by chance, I remembered that IE could go there, too. That came up and worked, showing the advertisement that was allocated to the upper banner space. FireFox intimated that all that was there was a single pixel burgundy gif. Finally, after clearing caches, FireFox opened the Insider page. But, it still shows the single gif, and will never, apparently, show the advertisement. Yes, so what, say you. But, it is a clear bug in FireFox that needs to be fixed, hein?
The first picture shows the source code for the pixel and the difference between IE 6 and FireFox 1.5.0.4. The second picture shows the source code under FireFox, and indicates the loading of the single gif, in the section of the code that is relevant.
